WOW!

I am sssssoooo excited! Today I received a memo from Scrapbook Trends magazine telling that they would like to publish a card that I submitted. It will be in the Wedding Idea Book coming out in January of 2008. I am still pinching myself!

I have just starting submitting my work in the past few months. Never thought to try before, but after some encouragement from a friend, I decided to take the plunge. Since my first submission in June, I have had 1 LO published in Scrappin' Trends E-zine and three projects in the making including the Scrapbook Trends submission. One of my LOs will be published in October of 2007 in Ready, Set, Create E-zine. In December of 2007, I will have something published in Creating Keepsakes magazine! This is turning out to be more exciting than I had anticipated. I remember how exciting it was to have my work posted on the Basic Grey site. Now, I can't begin to explain how I am feeling!

I have been working on my CD album and hope to get it posted this weekend. After all, that's what my blog is named for. So, I need to finish it soon!

"Trees of Life"

"Trees of Life"

This is a recent LO that I did for a challenge on one of my favorite sites. I had to choose 3 items from a list of "not normal" scrapbooking items. The 3 that I chose were...corrugated cardboard, cork, and masking tape. The cork was thin enough that I was able to use a punch and make it scalloped around the edges so I used it as a tag. The journaling says, "Sometimes Life Speaks For Itself". I layered torn pieces of the masking tape on cs and then inked over it with walnut stain. I wanted to replicate the mulch in the picture. The title, "Trees Give Us Life" was perfect with the items that I used. Afterall, without trees, none of us would be pursuing this passionate hobby of scrapbooking!

Validation

Validation...I chose this title for my blog because I love the definition of validation.  It means simply, 1. the act of validating, finding or testing the truth of something; 2. the cognitive process of establishing a valid proof; legally valid.

What better way to validate life, than preserving it on paper.

I recently created a CD mini album using this title. It tells the story of my "proof of life" as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, friend, care giver, teacher, volunteer, leader and artist. Pictures showing the many different facets of my lifetime are also part of this album. It is, in a sense, a validation of me and what I represent.
