My Sketch World March Color Challenge

This is my first layout challenge since joining the design team at My Sketch World for 2013. My last term with them, I was a card designer, so this is an exciting new venture for me.

With each new month, team members choose a challenge for the members and followers at My Sketch World.  For March, I chose color and design inspiration after recently purchasing this handbag!  I love the bright colors and floral pattern.

My choice of photo was one of our grand daughter from this past November.  She is such a joy and a favorite subject to scrap.

However, when I started "rifling" through my stash of papers, I came across one of my favorite Prima collections, "Romance Novel".  The colors and floral pattern were perfect, but more muted than the colors in my inspiration piece.  The black and white photo looked great...so, my choice was made.

I used the pink "Emotion" sheet as my background for the layout.  Next, I did some fussy cutting around the the swirled border section of the "Time Travel" sheet.  This would be the background for the photo.  The tags were cut from "Dear John" and "Love Story"

I inked the edges of all of my papers with Clearsnap, Lava Rock Chalk Ink.  This helped pull together the black in the papers and the black and white photo.  I chose several pieces of chipboard from the Prima Zephyr collection and inked the edges of them too.

And flowers?  Yes, lots of pretty flowers from Prima and other sources.  I added some Ranger Diamond Stickles glitter glue to the edges of the flowers.  An embellishment trinket from making Memories and a Prima crystal flourish that I cut apart and used in several places finished the LO.

I love the finished layout!

Come on over to My Sketch World and play along with our March challenges.  You can find them in the My Sketch World Forum.
