Double D February 17 Challenge!

It's a new month with new inspiration on the Double D Challenge Blog!!  March's inspiration brought  Valentine's Day to mind for me. Although it has already passed, I used the opportunity to make a Valentine's Day Birthday card for a friend's daughter.

I love the different red and white patterns and was especially inspired by the stack of pillows, cups and saucers.

 "Happy Birthday, Valentine"

This 6 x 6 Valentine has layers and layers of die cuts and embellishments to give it lots of dimension.  The background is embossed with a folder that has one of my favorite sayings, "love you to the moon".  The red lace heart is the base for stacked wonky squares of red and white. The top hearts are stacked with the white one embossed with the word, "Love".  I have been waiting for the opportunity to use this gingham ribbon and chipboard heart.  Metal corner embellishments, pearls and a few leaf flourishes complete the design.  The banner sentiment is computer generated.

So, come join us at the Double D Challenge Blog!  You'll find the challenge rules located at the top of the blog.  Link your entry using the Inlinkz icon found at the bottom of the current challenge post.

Craft-Dee BowZ "Snowfall"

Thank You, Cute As A Button!

Moving on...

The Design Team is appropriately working with a "snowflake" theme this month along with the colors of light blue, silver and navy.  The ribbons we received were gorgeous and I had the perfect papers and die cuts for this project!

"Snowfall"

"Snowfall" is just a dabble of what we had the end of January.  What started out as a weather prediction of 6 to 10 inches, turned into a total of 32 inches for us...All in a matter of twelve hours.  The snowflakes were piling up rapidly, layer upon layer.  Which brings me to my layered, dimensional card.

This card is a size I rarely make, but the snowflake border die was just too pretty to cut down to a smaller size.  I added dimension by using a snowflake border punch and layering over the die cut border.  Sparkly jewels were the perfect accent for the snowflakes.  Reminds me of glistening snow!

The background is two different patterned papers matted in white pearl paper over the navy cardstock base.  The chipboard sentiment is accented with a couple of the snowflakes remaining from the border that I punched across the top of the card.

Everything in layers...including the ribbon and bow!  I layered the light blue over the navy ribbon across the front of the card and behind the sentiment.  The bow is one of my very favorite!  I made two single bows and joined them together at the center tie.  This was all made easy using my Craft-Dee BowZ Bow Making Tool.  If you don't have one, you need one!  Small and easily stored.

Graciellie Design Blog Hop Reminder!

Just a few more days to win!

We're still celebrating the relaunch of Graciellie Design's Digital Shop.  You'll find great, new digital stamp sets designed especially for those of us that love cardmaking, scrapbooking, journaling, mixed media and even home décor.

Today, I'm sharing the last of three cards I created using one of her new sets, "Beautiful Season". This is a set of three lovely sentiments and a gorgeous tree.

I wanted to display how versatile the sets can be and created three different cards using all three sentiments and the tree.  Two of these were posted previously in the original blog hop post HERE.

My final project, I call a  "middle of the road" shaker card made using the tree and "Wishing you a beautiful season" sentiment.  I rate this card just above easy to create.

"Wishing you a beautiful season"

Easter and Spring are just around the corner and  I love this "renewed" time of the year.  I wanted colors that reflected the season, so I chose pink, yellow and turquoise to create my shaker card.  I filled the shaker box with fun sequins to surround the tree and added the "Wishing you a beautiful season" sentiment under it.
"Beautiful Season" and other new digital stamp sets can be found at Graciellie Design's Shop, HERE.  Remember to like and follow her shop to be the first to know about any new products!

Here is my February challenge inspiration...

"Sparkle"

Since we finally have snow, and I mean SNOW, I created my card with that in mind.  There are oodles of snowflakes surrounding my happy digi snowman!  The square card base of gray is layered with white, red, and more gray under the patterned paper.  I die cut the snowflake background and snowflakes from cardstock and patterned papers.  They are layered for dimension and topped off with a wood chip snowflake that I painted and covered in micro beads.

The silver bow has an additional red tail for extra color against the white snowflake background.  It was so easy to make using my Craft-Dee BowZ Bow Making Tool.

Just below the bow, I added another snowflake with a red jewel center.

Here is my "Love" Challenge inspiration for you...

"YOU ARE MY HAPPY"
It's difficult to tell, but the base of this 6" x 6" card is actually navy blue.  After I die cut the heart shape in the center of the gold foil paper, I cut it again from pink patterned paper, saving the extra pieces to use later.  Next, I added the pink heart outline to match the cut shape on the foil paper.  I used the gold and pink scraps to cut the  heart shapes in the center of the card.  The corner hearts are cut from navy cardstock.  I saved a few of the hearts to embellish elsewhere on the card. The gold posie is also cut from the gold foil paper. There was a little flourish piece left over from this and I placed it around the sentiment banner.  The final embellishments are a gold metal arrow and pearls.

Graciellie Design Blog Hop & Giveaway!

 Exciting news...

And, I am honored that Graciellie has asked me to be a part of this venture!

Today we come together to help celebrate the relaunch of Graciellie Design's Digital Shop. Gracie has come up with new digital stamp sets designed especially for those of us that love cardmaking, scrapbooking, journaling, mixed media and even home décor.
Today, I am sharing inspiration using one of her new sets, "Beautiful Season".
The set is composed of three lovely sentiments and a gorgeous tree.  This is a favorite because I am not someone that colors much and it's optional when using Gracie's digi sets.

I wanted to display how versatile the sets can be and created three different cards using all three sentiments and the tree.  Today, I will share two of them.  The third will part of a blog hop reminder post at the end of the week!

For my first project,  I created a card displaying the "Thankful for you" sentiment only.  This one is the more involved of the three using lots of die cuts, inks and layering.  The background die cut is new and already a favorite!

"Thankful for you"

I love that you can alter the digi image sizes to suit your need.  This sentiment was adjusted to fit the banner die cut.  I tucked it just under the bottom wings of the butterfly.

The second  is a CAS card created with the tree and "May blessings and laughter fill your home this season" sentiment.   Although the Christmas season is over, I have a head start on the holiday for 2016.  The card base is simply white cardstock to which I have added the tree image and sentiment.  I moved them around in my photo program until they were placed where I wanted them.  After printing it out, I rounded the corners, inked stencil designs, added some glitter, gems and a couple of red cardinals.

"May blessings and laughter fill you home this season"
"Beautiful Season" and other new digital stamp sets can be found at Graciellie Design's Shop, HERE.  Remember to like and follow her shop to be the first to know about any new products!
