I think deep, down inside each one of us are "secret passions" that we carry through our lives along with these little "alter egos" that we keep in check. A desire to be something or someone else at one time or another.
When I was growing up, I always wanted to do something in the art field...graphic designer, interior designer, some kind of designer. Well, I ended up in the medical field, helping people, looking at coronary arteries for a while and watching babies being born for the length of my work career!
However, 8 short years ago, a secret passion of mine came to the surface as my little alter ego said, "do it, do it"! So, I did it. I signed up for a safety course and got my license to be a "biker chick".
LOL! But believe me, I am no biker chick in any sense of the word. I have had people laugh and say, "You! Have a motorcycle? No way! I don't believe it!" I just don't fit the stigma of the biker chick scene. But I do love to ride.
Riding has long been a passion of my husband and I. Something that we shared together. Saturday mornings mean a quiet, relaxing ride together, stopping for coffee, sharing the beautiful scenery, and just spending time together. We always rode together until 8 years ago when someone said, "Get out from behind him and get your own bike"! Never before had the thought crossed my mind.
So, I did it! I got my license and my wonderful husband made sure that I had a great set of wheels of my own. Now, I ride with my "wing man" wherever I go. He is my guardian on wheels and the guardian of my heart!
And, here is my ride! This beautiful white pearl baby is all mine! She has been my riding companion for 8 years this month! I can't believe I have had her that long.
I never really talk about this "secret passion" of mine or the little "alter ego" that appears when I climb on that leather seat. But for some reason, with all the events in the past few months of my life, I decided it was time to open up and share my passion.
Life is so precious...I have learned that through the years. So, if you have a "secret passion" or little "alter ego" waiting to surface, don't wait too long! For we only walk this earth but once..."life is not a dress rehearsal!"
