It's mid month and time again for another Double D Challenge hosted by Team Darlene. Tomorrow is the first day of summer and what could be better than the topic of butterflies? They're one of the most beautiful insects to inhabit the earth with their amazing colors and delicate details.

So, our challenge theme today is "Butterflies"!

Here's my mood board inspiration for you...
This 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" card of many layers was inspired by the shades of purple and hint of blue in the third photo on the mood board. The background is a muted water color, floral patterned paper under an acetate overlay with gold script. I fussy cut some of the flowers from another sheet of paper, inked the edges, added foam tape and adhered them on top of the acetate to match up with the flower underneath. The butterfly outline is cut from black cardstock. I traced the metal die on plain vellum to create the actual butterfly and added color with distress inks to the underside of the vellum. The butterfly and paper flowers have clear glitter around the edges for a little sparkle. I stamped and embossed the sentiment on a banner and tucked it under a flower. A double loop, two toned bow and mulberry flowers complete the minimal embellishing.
