Summer is here and it's time to be outdoors! And, that's the challenge theme for the next two weeks. Anything to do with the "Outdoors". Camping, canoeing, fishing, gardening and traveling are just a few ideas for creating your project. As always, below is a mood board to inspire you.
And, there will be a prize for one lucky person chosen by random draw.
This cute little stamp set from Hampton Art is looking for a home.
What could be more relaxing than life at the lake?
This A2 card is going to a dear crafty friend that retired recently. They made a huge move from the east coast of Virgina to the northern mid west so they could live near a lake and be closer to family. Fishing, relaxing, spending time with family and enjoying retirement are their lake life plans.
I die cut the cattails three times, twice from the green cardstock and once from the brown velvet specialty paper. I layered the green stalks for dimension and fussy cut the brown velvet spikes for the top of the cattails. They are adhered on an oval of vellum with the foremost plant having added dimension using foam dots. The sentiment is stamped in blue on white and adhered to a light blue banner for a pop of color

WOWZA! What a fabulous retirement card! Love the dimension on the cattails and that background paper is PERFECT! Another very inspiring DT card ... thanks!
A perfect retirement card which I am sure they will appreciate, clever idea to use the velvet paper for the cattail heads! I know we sure enjoyed our retirement time at the lake as I am sure they will, going to miss it for sure!! Another fabulous DT creation!!
This is fantastic! It really does make for a great retirement card, especially when you read where they have moved, how FUN for them! I loooove those cat-o-nine tails, they look great and you know I appreciate all of those die cut layers lol And the addition of that Vellum piece is everything, a little touch that adds so much! LOVE this!
Love those cattails and the texture you gave them. The background says it all about the lifestyle your friend is looking forward to. I like how you layered the sentiment, too. We have spent many a day at or on one of our many lakes close to home.
I LOVE this. That background paper is so perfect, you couldn't have chosen anything better. The cattails are amazing along with the stones at the bottom, but the thing that really "makes" this card is the vellum. It just makes this card STUNNING!!!
Oooh, this is fabulous, Vicki! I love the rich earth tones you used. Your cluster of cattails are wonderful!!
Wow it sounds like your friend made a great move for their retirement. A little bit like Paradise living on a lake and close to family. This is a wonderful card to remind him of just the great move that they did and all the memories they will make.
Wow...Gorgeous peaceful looking card! love the fabulous style and colour.
Have a great weekend, hugs
Those cattails look perfect for the great outdoors and I can't imagine a better retirement than living next to a lake and family too! Beautiful outdoors card!
