Happy Birthday dear sister!

Today is my little sister's birthday.

Happy Birthday, Susan!

I finished making her card and mailed it earlier this week, so now I can finally post it in my blog since it's her birthday and she should have received it by now.

The inspiration came from a color palette that I used for an upcoming blog post in the Scrapbook News and Review blog.

The Basic Grey patterned paper background was perfect with the color palette I was using. I matted it in 4 layers. Inside the card, I added a backing piece of chocolate cardstock to the front of the card base.

The flowers were cut using Spellbinders Lotus Shapeablities, staggering the two different colors.  I added a strip of green lacy trim down the left side of the card to help pull out the green in the patterned paper.

The foliage was die-cut using Spellbinders Foliage Shapeabilities.  I used the fern and the leaves for embellishing the flower.

This Recollections sticker sentiment is a favorite and I placed in the center of the flower along with a heart in the upper left corner to offset the leaves on the bottom right.

Love this color combination!

Thanks for stopping by and sharing my sister's birthday card!  Love that girl...so happy to call her "sister"!
