Dance with Butterflies!

This week I am playing with mixed media again.  I have fallen in love with glass beads and stencils and can't seem to get enough of them.

I am participating in a tag swap for September and thought I would start early so I'm not crammin' as usual!  The theme for the tags is butterflies.  I wanted to create something vintage and romantic.

This is a Mixed Media Doll Tag by Julie Nutting along with her Swing Dance Doll Stamp.

 "Dance with Butterflies"

To alter the tag, I used my distress paint dabbers and made splatters randomly all over it.  The dabbers make the coolest splatter marks evah!  I cut a strip of patterned paper, inked the edges and adhered it down the side.  I also added a piece of torn butterfly patterned paper with inked edges in the lower left corner.

Next, I added glass beads across the top right corner with a stencil.  I love the results you get with glass bead gel.  It is opaque when it first goes on, but as it dries, it becomes clear and you can really see the texture of the beads.

I stamped the doll image onto ivory cardstock and cut it out.  Then, I stamped it again on a piece of patterned paper.  This time, I cut out only the dress portion of the stamp.  To give the doll figure dimension, I added pop dots to the back of the dress.

I used markers and pencils to color the hair and skin on the doll.  The top of the dress is covered with Rock Candy Dry Glitter.  I also added glitter along the skirt hemline.

To finish the tag, I added mulberry and paper flowers coated with glitter glue in the upper right corner.

A butterfly on the dress skirt to carry on the butterfly theme.

A piece of pink and black organdy swirl ribbon and a few silver dew drops are the final details.
