Butterflies A Flutter...

Welcome crafty friends!

August...half way through the "dog days of summer".  It has been exceptionally hot here in SE Pennsylvania with more days above 90 degrees than ever before.  Hot, hazy and humid!  The flowers are loving this weather with butterflies and hummingbirds taking over the blooms.

That brings us to a new challenge at the Double D....our theme for the next two weeks is butterflies!  Show us how this colorful mood board inspires you.  Link up your project to the Double D Challenge Blog "Butterflies" post by Sunday, August 16th.

One entry, chosen by random draw will win this Creative Expressions' Die Set.

Here's my butterfly inspiration...

"Best Wishes"

This six inch square card of many layers was a quick assembly.  There are two card stock mattings and a layer of floral patterned paper in each of the three layers.  They are stacked using foam tape for added dimension.  I die cut the butterfly from the top layer, popped out the negatives and adhered it back in the cut out area.  I fussy cut a flower cluster to embellish and added pearls for the butterfly body.  The sentiment tag is a very dark purple although it looks black in the photo.  I matted it with a flower die that I cut in half and then used the other half under the fussy cut bouquet.

At first I thought this was a stained glass butterfly. Well, it could be, right. I love it Vicki and your style is really showing off here.

Oh my gosh, this is absolutely STUNNING, Vicki. That patterned paper is so gorgeous, and I love how you have inserted the beautiful butterfly die cut in the negative space. And then the flowers are the perfect final touch. Just FABULOUS!!!

Hi, Vicki! I especially wanted to stop here and tell you how inspiring your beautiful card is. I love what you did with your open line butterfly die and now I know what I want to do with my Open Scroll Butterfly the next time I have it out. What a great idea! The paper is beautiful and the layering very effective. Using the negative as part of the design is brilliant!
