Welcome friends!
There's a new challenge for August at A Cut Above Die Cut Challenge Blog!
The "Dog Days" of summer are winding down. It's been a hot, sultry time for us here on the East Coast. Sadly, I'm ready for fall and cooler temps. Which brings us to apple season here in our area. There are orchards everywhere with a wide variety of apples available to purchase. And, apples were the inspiration for this card...
I had so much fun putting this card together and I love the results. The barrel and apples are part of a new set I recently purchased. I cut lots of apples, stems and leaves and filled this wood barrel container full to the brim and over the top!
The barrel is two die cut pieces, front and back, with foam tape for dimension. The wooden staves of the barrel and apples are both inked with two distress inks. The barrel band is cut from copper metallic paper and matted with black. I touched up the leaves a bit also. The background is embossed with an older leaf folder although it is a bit difficult to see.
I added a branch across the top behind the layered sentiment along with a piece of gingham ribbon behind the barrel.
From my stash...
